Nakshatra
How to read it
Count27
Based onMoon’s star
- The sidereal circle is split into 27 equal nakshatras
- Lords repeat: Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury
- Today’s nakshatra is the Moon’s place now
- Janma nakshatra is the Moon’s place at birth
The daily Panchang names the nakshatra of the Moon for the selected moment, with its lord. That is the star of the day. The birth nakshatra is a different moment: the Moon at the time of birth. Both use this same list of 27 names and the same repeating lords.
Rahu and Ketu rule nakshatras in this cycle. They do not rule rashis on this site.
