Vaar
How to read it
Count7 weekdays
Based onThe civil date
- The vaar is the weekday in the city’s timezone
- Sunday is the Sun, Monday the Moon, Tuesday Mars
- Wednesday Mercury, Thursday Jupiter, Friday Venus, Saturday Saturn
- Rahu Kaal is a part of that daytime, not an eighth vaar
The daily Panchang takes the vaar from the calendar date you select, in that city’s timezone. The seven lords are the seven planets that rule weekdays. Rahu and Ketu do not rule a vaar. Rahu Kaal is one of the eight daytime parts of whichever vaar is current, counted from local sunrise to sunset.
A date chosen near midnight can fall on the next vaar if the city is ahead of your clock. The Panchang uses the city’s own date.
